Your Day Tours: A Reykjavik Tour Company Review

Iceland has my heart. <3 The best day I had in the country was spent with Your Day Tours, a young travel company competing in the booming tourism market of Reykjavik. I was lucky to take a tour of the South Coast of Iceland with Your Day Tours in December. December has the shortest days of the year in Iceland, and isn’t known for great weather, but the sun came out blazing for our tour – the first day I’d seen sunshine in 5 days in Iceland.

I booked through Viator, though one review let it be known the specific tour company, so I was able to research them on my own. The tour travels to Seljalandsfoss (the waterfall you can walk behind), Skógafoss (the waterfall you can climb to the top of – if you’re up for the challenge), Sólheimajökull (a magnificent glacier featured in a Game of Thrones battle) & Reynisfjara (The black sand beach near Vik.)

Like most tour companies in Reykjavik, they offered hotel/hostel pickup & dropoff, and as a small company, we were a small group on a small van. I enjoyed the personalized touch of Your Day Tours. The only thing I might have done differently was schedule a similar tour with a hike on the Sólheimajökull glacier, though to be honest I didn’t even make it up the Skógafoss walkway climb to the top so it might not have been the best idea.

But if you’re heading to Iceland, on Wow Air or another airline, be sure to make sure the South Coast is on your list. While each of these spots are accessible if you rent a car, that can be a pricy option especially in a country with weather that can change at the drop of a hat. dsc_0121 dsc_0124 dsc_0186 dsc_0202 img_1247 img_1271 img_1280 img_1543 img_1420 img_1491 img_1506 img_1509 img_1513 img_1544
